VA ODP Girls, Day 7: FC Rousette and Olympic Marseille

French Riviera

Our final day in France provided us with a fantastic day full of shopping, sight seeing, and enjoyable games.

The first stop of the day for the girls was a shopping trip in to downtown Marseille to pick up final gifts for families along with the last visit to the picturesque pier. 

We then travelled to the small and beautiful town of Casse. This provided us all with some down time to really get into the south of France culture on the sea front. The local cuisine was superb and for many this will be a highlight of their trip. Next up was our matches!

The 01 girls finished up with a game against local side FC Rousette who were fantastic hosts and provided our girls with an insight into the community and culture surrounding a small semi professional soccer club in France.

The Girls had learned much about themselves against the French Regional select team the day before and were eager for this game to begin. The game ended 5v0 with some good team play against a hard working and committed FC Rousette team.


After the game we were invited into the club house where we were presented with gifts, food, and open arms which made this a perfect end to our trip for the 01 girls.

The 99 Girls finished the trip with a great game against Olympic Marseille. In a game where the wind was an important factor, both teams tried hard to play good soccer.

In the end it was a highly enjoyable spectacle with some great attacking and defending from both teams. Although neither team was able to score, a 0-0 tie certainly did not do justice to the high level of play on offer.

Great way to finish up the week for the 99 girls and huge thanks to our excellent host, Olympic Marseille.
