VA ODP Girls, Day 3 and 4: I can now speak 3 languages in a day

Practice time?
Day 3 - After two pretty frantic days the 99 and 01 girls were able to use Sunday as a rest and recovery day. It started with a light recovery and tactical walk through session in the morning. The sessions allowed the girls to physically recover and gave the coaches time to prepare for the game to come on Day 4. The most unique part of the practice, except for the amazing singing from the 2001 girls, was the backdrop of the Pyrenee mountains. After practice both girl's teams left in good spirits and in better physical condition than when they arrived.

The highlight of the day though came with our trip to Collioure. Picture the most beautiful place you have ever seen and I'd be surprised if you have seen a place like this. Collioure was rich in beauty and had tremendous character along with a wealth of history. The girls were able to walk around the small town and enjoy what it had to offer. The day ended with a walk around the historic sites and then dinner at the hotel.

Day 4 - Barcelona and Girona
Jumping from France to Spain did not cause too many issues apart from remembering which language to speak or the little of it that we can.

For many of the 2001 girls this day would become the highlight of their trip. As they had arrived in the early hours of Saturday morning, the 2001s had missed the trip to Barcelona and the Nou Camp. True to VYSA's word they worked out that the girls could go to the city and stadium before there game in Girona, Spain. As a parent, the smiles on the girl's faces and humility/thankfulness they showed for this experience at the Nou Camp personally has been a highlight for me. The girls really made the most out of their time at the stadium and enjoyed every minute of it.

After the stadium both groups toured Barcelona on the bus and by foot with Admin Ed acting as the group's personal tour guide. We enjoyed lunch in downtown Barcelona while taking time to enjoy the local treats of the city including "churros" and chocolate at a small cafe.

VA ODP 2001 vs Girona
Next on the agenda was both team's games in Girona, Spain. Both matches provided the 01s and 99s with tough physical competition and it provided us with plenty of new problems to solve. Both teams performed well and left with positive results.

The day ended with the small bus ride back to Perpignan and a karaoke competition between the staff and the players.

Good times and new memories!
